NYC heat crisis looms

Heat-related deaths may rise in Manhattan by as much as 20 percent in the 2020s — and by 90 percent by the 2080s, Columbia University researchers say.

Their study, in the journal Nature Climate Change, claims that while higher winter temperatures may reduce cold-related mortality, net temperature-related deaths will still likely climb.

Gov. Cuomo has warned that New York must prepare for a “new reality” of climate change.
