Backers: Jacko’s a ‘freak’

LOS ANGELES — Concert promoters in charge of Michael Jackson’s last scheduled gigs were embarrassed yesterday when e-mails of them calling Jacko a “creepy,” “freak” performer were revealed in court.

AEG Live general counsel Shawn Trell had earlier told LA jurors how much he admired The King of Pop and looked forward to Jackson’s “This is It” concerts set for London in 2009-10.

But then lawyers for Jackson’s family, which is suing AEG, showed Trell e-mails that told a different story.

In one, Ted Fikre, a board member at the parent company of AEG, said, “Does this mean you get to meet the freak?”

Trell’s e-mail reply was, “Apparently. Not sure how I feel about that. Interesting to be sure, but kind of creepy.”

Jackson’s family is suing AEG for allegedly ignoring Jackson’s poor health in 2009 when he died on June 25 of that year.
