Today

WING IT: Keep your eye on the birdies at Central Park’s On a Wing family festival, a yearly event honoring the park’s many feathered friends. Go on a bird-watching tour with park rangers and have a hoot making an owl-themed craft to keep. Noon, free. Belvedere Castle, enter at 81st Street and Central Park West; 212-310-6600, centralparknyc.org

SHAKEDOWN STREET: Put some swing in your step at the annual Dance Parade through lower Manhattan to Tompkins Square Park, with nearly 10,000 dancers demonstrating their moves — on the move. Stick around afterward for free lessons and a giant dance party in the park. 1 p.m., free. Parade starts at 21st Street and Broadway; danceparade.org

BROADWAY BOUND: See tomorrow’s Tony-winning stars before they hit the big time, when the Children’s Acting Company of New York presents “Bye Bye Birdie” at Symphony Space. Fellow aspiring thespians can sign up for a master class after tomorrow’s performance, taught by Broadway actor Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (most recently seen in the Broadway adaptation of “A Little Night Music” with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury). Today, 2 and 7:30 p.m.; tomorrow, noon. $20 per person (additional $100 fee for master class, call 212-860-7101 to register). 95th Street and Broadway; 212-864-5400, symphonyspace.org

TOMORROW

ROCK ’N’ BOWL: Forget everything you know about family festivals and head to the Brooklyn Bowl for Frolic! Rock ’N’ Roll Carnival featuring live music from Tim and the Space Cadets, a story time led by Wesley Schultz of the Lumineers, magic, face painting, temporary tattoos, jugglers and more. 11 a.m., $20 for adults, $15 for kids under 12 ($15 and $10, in advance). 61 Wythe Ave., at North 11th Street, Willamsburg; 718-963-3369, brooklynbowl.com

MOTHER’S DAY: Better than the greeting-card holiday, “Mamapalooza” (now in its 10th year!) is a daylong celebration at which moms can groove to live tunes and laugh at motherhood-centric stand-up comedy while kids bop to Moey’s Music Party, jump in a play tent, make take-home crafts and more. 11 a.m., free. Riverside Park, Pier 1, Hudson River at 70th Street; 212-870-3070, riversideparkfund.org
