Giggle goddess

Lesson from Aisha Tyler: Everyone loves a loser.

“No one wants to be friends with the guy who comes into the bar after work and says, ‘Oh, my God! I totally killed it today. Got a promotion.’ You want to punch that guy in the neck,” Tyler says.

“Everyone loves the guy who comes into the bar all damp and sweaty, with one flip-flop and one bare foot, saying, ‘Uh, I think I just set my apartment on fire.’ ”

The actor-comedian shows a love of self-deprecation in her new book “Self-Inflicted Wounds: Heartwarming Tales of Epic Humiliation,” a collection of humorous anecdotes cataloging Tyler’s most cringe-worthy moments.

Like her experience doing awful corporate comedy gigs, the time she puked all over her date and “The Time I Got Boobs Way Before Anyone Else.”

“We connect through frailties and foibles,” she says. “It’s hard to relate to someone who says how awesome they are.”

She may not say it, but Tyler’s life does seem pretty awesome at the moment. On Tuesday, a revamped version of the improv comedy show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” kicks off on The CW with Tyler as host, replacing Drew Carey.

“They just called and asked if I wanted it. Isn’t that nice?” she says. “My first acting experience was an improv class in high school. There’s nothing more invigorating than coming up with an idea in the moment and having it work.”

Tyler promises the show will be “edgier” than previous incarnations.

She’s also got FX’s animated comedy “Archer,” which is performing a live episode at this week’s Comic-Con in San Diego. Don’t expect any embarrassing new material for Tyler, though.

“When we do our live shows, everyone gets drunk on bourbon and falls on each other like a bag of kittens,” she says. “It’s adorable, really.”
