Police are still investigating the death, but don’t believe foul play was involved.

The Canada native is best known for his role on the Fox sitcom “Glee,” playing jock-turned-singer Finn Hudson on the music-themed series.

Monteith later dated his co-star on the show, Lea Michele.

Monteith missed the final episodes of the show’s fourth season this spring to enter rehab for his addictions, a move that Michele supported.

“I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this,” she told People at the time. “I am grateful and proud he made this decision.”

He had previously entered rehab at the age of 19.

Glee’s executive producers, 20th Century Fox and FOX Broadcasting Company released a statement this morning addressing Monteith’s death.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exeptional person,” the statement reads. “He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.”

As news of Monteith’s death spread, his fellow “Glee” actors expressed sentiments of sadness online.

“No,” wrote Mark Salling, who appears as fellow glee club member Noah Puckerman.

“I have no words,” wrote Dot-Marie Jones, who plays coach Shannon Beiste. “Cory was not only a hell of a friend he was one amazing man that I will hold close to my heart forever.”
