Tiger barely makes cut at Memorial after shooting 74

DUBLIN, Ohio — If Tiger Woods is to make a run at a sixth Memorial Tournament title, he’ll have to turn things around quickly.

Woods fought gusting winds, an occasionally errant shot and his putter during a second-round 2-over 74 on Friday, making the cut at Muirfield Village but leaving a lot of ground to make up on the weekend.

The most costly mistake was a messy double-bogey at the reachable par-5 15th, a hole that he birdied three times in winning a year ago but on which he is 3 over so far this time around. He lipped out a short pitch shot and three-putted from 7 feet.

Woods was at 1-over 145 — 10 shots behind early second-round leader Bill Haas — with 36 holes remaining.
