Moonrise Kingdom 2012

Tuesday, 9:35 a.m., HBOSGe

A wonderful, quirky, perfect movie for these hot, hot days. It’s 1960s New England, and 12-year-olds Sam (Jared Gilman) and Suzy (Kara Hayward) fall in adolescent love and run away a few days before a giant storm is set to hit. He’s running from his scout camp and foster father, Capt. Sharp (Bruce Willis, center) and she from her unhappy, offbeat family. The whole town goes in search of them, including her mother (Frances McDormand). Also starring Tilda Swinton and Edward Norton.

Dirty Dancing 1987

Wednesday, 8 p.m., Lifetime

Maybe the last time the world really enjoyed summer was the 1960s, but here we go again with one of the top 10 summer movies of all time. Patrick Swayze is a dance instructor/all around worker bee at a Catskills resort who teaches a wealthy doctor’s daughter (Jennifer Grey, right) how to “dirty dance.” Love and complications follow. With Jerry Orbach and Kelly Bishop as Grey’s parents.

My Cousin Vinny
1992

Saturday, 12:10 p.m., Comedy Central

Despite this being a comedy— and a very funny one at that — Marisa Tomei bagged the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress as the blabber-mouth girlfriend of a new, inept Brooklyn lawyer (Joe Pesci). They must travel to the Deep South to defend his college-kid cousin (Ralph Macchio) who was stopped with his friend for a traffic violation and ends up charged with murder. Just hilarious.

Legally Blonde 2001

Saturday, 7 p.m., ABC Family

More legal fun with Reese Witherspoon as iconic blonde, airhead co-ed Elle Woods. She wants to get into Harvard Law just to impress her Harvard-bound boyfriend (Matthew Davis), who demands a perfect wife for his political ambitions. He finds someone else — a brunette — and Elle wages war, discovering that she can be both a great lawyer and a blonde!
