Giants’ Tuck leaner and meaner for 2013

While Antrel Rolle (ankle) vowed to return in time for the Giants’ regular-season opener, Justin Tuck (back) vowed to return for Sunday night’s preseason game against the Colts.

And it will be a trimmed-down Tuck who shall return to the Giants after he missed a few days of practice and the team’s preseason-opening win over the Steelers with a stiff back.

“I worked out a little differently this year, that’s about all,” Tuck told The Post yesterday. “I’m eating the right things.”

Worked out differently in what way?

“Just some different stuff I haven’t done in previous years,” he said. “I went back to a lot more heavy weight training and a lot of different running.”

Is your percentage of body fat down?

“Sure it is,” Tuck said.

How much?

“A lot,” Tuck said.

What foods are you avoiding?

“A lot of fried stuff … soda … sweets … a lot of stuff growing up in Alabama your grandma, your grandpa was so good at cooking that you really didn’t mind at the time,” he said.

What’s your weight now?

“I’m at 265,” Tuck said.

What were you last year?

“Heavier than that,” Tuck said.

How much?

“I’ve lost about 10 pounds,” Tuck said.

Tuck, who is in a contract year, is being employed at both end positions and even standing up.

“For me it’s exciting, I’m looking forward to doing more of it,” he said. “We’re still adjusting and still trying to figure out what place it really will have in our defense. It makes us a little less predictable and that’s something more that offenses have to game plan for.”
