‘Arsenio,’ ‘Monday Night Football’ kick off to big numbers

Arsenio Hall’s new late-night talk show premiered to solid numbers Monday night.

“Arsenio” (11 p.m./Ch. 11) was the top-rated late-night show in adults 18-49 and 25-54 — beating 11:35 p.m. competitors “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “The Tonight Show” and “The Late Show” in those demos, according to overnight numbers.

In households, however, “Arsenio” finished far behind those shows, though he did improve his timeslot average (in households) by a whopping 90 percent from this time last year.

On Ch. 11, “Arsenio” registed a 19 percent increase over its lead-in, while jumping 88 percent in LA.

Meanwhile, ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” set a franchise record Monday.

The Philadelphia/Washington game scored an 11.6 overnight rating — the best since “MNF” migrated from ABC to sister cable network ESPN in 2005.

By comparison, last season’s “MNF” opener notched an 8.1 rating.

The Philadelphia/Washington game received a boost, since it was simulcast on the ABC mothership in both of those cities.

ESPN’s previous “MNF” best rating was a 10.5 (in 2010).
