Tim Coppens keeps focus, delivers stylish sets

The who:
NBA point guard Russell Westbrook, Dominic Lord, and Ken Downing sat front row, but the affair turned CFDA-caliber when Rag & Bone’s Marcus Wainwright and David Neville showed up with Public School’s Maxwell Osbourne and Dao-Yi Chow to lend some brotherly love.

The what:
All eyes are on the Belgian-born designer, so seemingly unfazed by a recent zoom to fashion stardom he delivered a confident, almost metaphoric collection referencing the speed and danger of the racing track. The clothes were Aston Martin sleek and the models–among them women for the first time–toted helmets and backpacks to accessorize the striped knits, varsity jackets, jogging pants, and other luxe athletic duds Coppens has near perfected.

The highlight:
If only Middle America would catch on, the boiler suit, by Coppen’s reworked in upscale materials (and without grease stains), would make an outstanding addition to the fair-weather menswear canon.

The takeaway:
On your marks, get set–this time guys AND girls have something to save up for come spring.
