Casual elegance shines for Vivienne Tam

The Who:
Kelly Rutherford, Angela Simmons and Louise Roe attended, and got their photos snapped by Patrick McMullan.

The What:
In what Tam called “an ode to modern Shanghai,” the designer made ample use of lotus flowers. In a black and white print they enhanced a sheath dress and skinny pants, and in laser cutout form they embroidered a jacket and tank top. Stripes and abstract plaid gave gowns a casual feel, which was countered with full skirts and diagonal necklines. Simple silhouettes were great for a crisp white pleated skirt and a pale pink trapeze dress, but fell flat on looks like a coral drop waist frock. Tam’s simplicity, however, made for an extremely wearable collection, and one that also looked rather comfortable

The Highlight:
The cutout lotus embroidery on a two tone sheath.

The Takeaway:
The ease of Tam’s separates indeed felt very modern, so kudos to her for an ode well-executed.
