J.J. Abrams to direct next ‘Star Wars’

The force is with J.J. Abrams.

The man behind “Lost” and the recent “Star Trek” reboot is set to direct the yet untitled “Star Wars: Episode VII,” according to The Wrap.

Abrams, known for bringing gritty realism to otherwise fantastic worlds, beat out “Argo” director Ben Affleck for one of the most hotly rumored jobs in Hollywood.

Ever since Disney bought Lucasfilm last October fans and media have been speculating about who would be chosen to direct the first part of a new “Star Wars” trilology which is set to hit theaters in the summer of 2015.

Abrams has previously said that he wouldn’t take the “Star Wars” job, but it appears that the fanboy favorite will now be in charge of two nerd super franchises seeing as Abrams is currently in post-production for his second “Star Trek” movie “Into Darkness.”

Also attached to the new “Star Wars” is “Toy Story 3” scribe Michael Arndt, who won an Academy Award for “Little Miss Sunshine” in 2007.
