NYC to transform part of Broadway into ‘Super Bowl Boulevard’ ahead of 2014 game

Get ready for football mania in Times Square.

The city plans to transform a portion of Broadway into “Super Bowl Boulevard” for the 2014 championship showdown in the Meadowlands.

The football-themed roadway will begin at 44th Street and stretch to 34th Street from Jan. 29 to Feb. 1, 2014. The game is being played on Feb. 2.

All events in the open air space will be free.

“Super Bowl Boulevard will welcome fans from around the world to experience for free a football festival never seen before in New York City,” the mayor’s office said in a press release.

Among the scheduled events on the boulevard:

* Nightly concerts

* Football clinics and competitions

* Player appearances and free autographs

* Display of the Vince Lombardi Trophy

* NFL exhibits

* Perhaps most importantly considering the weather — “warming stations”
