More body art for 49ers’ Kaepernick

The term “Kaepernicking” should just mean to get tattoos.

49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick wasted very little time adding to his extensive amount of ink this week. Yesterday, four days after almost leading San Francisco to a Super Bowl title, Kaepernick had a tribal design tattooed on his chest above and below the words “Against All Odds,” a previous tattoo. The speedy signal caller tweeted a photo of the new design, which was made by artist Orly Locquiao.

Locquiao posted on the website of Humble Beginnings Tattoo — his studio in San Jose — that Kaepernick was in the chair until 2:30 a.m. The artists says the ink represents Kaepernick’s “family, inner strength, spiritual growth, and humility.”

Kaepernick’s body is almost entirely covered by tattoos, which are mostly scripture-based.

“I don’t really care what people think about my tattoos,” Kaepernick said before the Super Bowl. “I got them for me and to show people this is what I believe in. God has brought me this far, he’s laid out a phenomenal path for me and I can’t do anything but thank Him.”

Kaepernick replaced injured starter Alex Smith (concussion) against the Rams in Week 10 and never gave the job back, leading the 49ers to the Super Bowl. He rushed for a quarterback-playoff record 181 yards against the Packers in the divisional round and led San Francisco back from a 21-6 deficit in the Super Bowl before his team eventually fell 34-31 to the Ravens.

Earlier this week, Kaepernick trademarked the term “Kaepernicking,” his bicep-kissing touchdown celebration.
