The Red Bulls signed 20-year-old Spanish midfielder Ruben Izquierdo yesterday.
The 5-foot-7, 144-pounder — who has been on trial with the club, and assisted the game-tying goal in Thursday’s 3-2 come-from-behind preseason win — will be added to the roster pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.
“Ruben is a very interesting young player with a lot of potential,’’ said Red Bulls sporting director Andy Roxburgh. “He is technically very good and his willingness to work and learn bodes well for his future development.’’
The 20-year-old Izquierdo had been with England’s Charlton Athletic since 2011, going on loan to Spanish side CD San Roque de Lepe for the 2011-12 season.
