Nautica

The Who: Peter Facinelli of “The Twilight Saga” was there, as were the Winklevoss twins (the real ones, not Armie Hammer, also making the menswear rounds this season) and a considerable amount of others who might have raced in regattas way back when.

The What: Celebrating its 30 year anniversary, Nautica brought forth a “Black Sail” collection inspired by the seafaring expeditions of Sir Earnest Shakleton, who, according to Wikipedia, pioneered exploration of the Antarctic. The reference certainly explains the proliferation of puffer parkas, as well as the shearling and surprise touches of fur. Toggles, boat shoes and mock necks were all present for the sailor side of things, while the black came towards the end in a nice lineup of separates well suited for the mainland wardrobe.

The Highlight: Casting is everything, and it was nice to see a few established male models from the mid-aughts generation hit the runway. Leading the pack was Sean O along with buddies RJ Rogenski, Oraine and Jamie Strachan, who wore the standout washed leather utility jacket that evidenced chic thinking.

The Takeaway: The boys in the hoods looked good. And as the show ended — flash blizzard looming — everyone considered asking if they could borrow.
