Sex shops helping shut-ins stoke home fires

Snowed in? Knock boots!

New York City sex shops are helping couples cope with the storm by offering a little baby-makin’ inspiration, including delivering erotic toys, lingerie and books.

More babies are conceived in the winter, often during storms and cold weather, than any other time of the year, and sex shops are feeling the boom, owners say.

They can thank cabin fever.

“People are stuck inside — and they want to try new stuff with their partner,” said Samantha Bard, who owns Shag in Willamsburg, where business has spiked in the past month.

“A storm is perfect cuddle-and-make-love weather.”

Other shops, such as Babeland in SoHo, are going a step further, offering to deliver kinky treats by bicycles within the hour.

“In bad weather, people are constantly calling for sex-toy deliveries,” said owner Claire Cavanah.

“I think I’ll buy a bottle of wine and get acquainted with my new purchase,” she said.

The shop’s most popular delivery items are lube, the “Hitachi Magic Wand” vibrator and the JimmyJane Hello Touch, a vibrating toy couples can wear like a glove.

The shop offers delivery in Manhattan and Brooklyn — but some smart shoppers were already starting to stock up to beat the storm yesterday.

“The blizzard has definitely has inspired me to go a little crazy and buy some stuff,” said Tim, a 40-something, who hit up Babeland with his wife.

He said he bought erotic oils, a massager and a kinky unmentionable.

“I usually hate snowstorms but I still think this will be a good weekend anyway,” he said.

Other Babeland patrons said a desire for pregnancy — and even a partner— weren’t necessary to have a little snowstorm fun.

“I think I just want to be a little selfish this weekend and have some ‘me time,’” said Layla, a 23-year-old from Greenwich Village, who bought a vibrator.
