This week’s couple: Mystery date

IN last week’s Meet Market, Phil, 24 and Monika, 22, were paired up for their date through the assistance of OkCupid’s new Crazy Blind Date app. The algorithm said they were 96 percent compatible, we sent them on a date at the Meatpacking sushi eatery, Toy. Was their blind date crazy in a good way or bad way?

He said:

Monika and I met at Toy, and the host took us over to the bar to [have] a couple of drinks before dinner.

We were seated in a dark corner upstairs, which led to [us laughing] about [our] difficulty reading the menu. We impersonated monocled, British folk and Monika seemed to dig my Sherlock Holmes impression, so I felt like I was off to a great start.

We split the emerald roll and the vegetarian roll, both were good but I saw Monika was not competent at eating with chopsticks so I propped one of mine in my nostril to ease the mood.

We [went] back down to the bar and enjoyed some good conversation ranging from yoga to classic rock. Overall, I’d say this [date] was a win for us both.

She said:

Phil and I met in front of Toy and were led to the bar for some pre-dinner whiskey. We hit it off immediately, I could tell Phil didn’t think my face was the worst.

His Sherlock Holmes impression was spot-on, and I find nothing sexier than a good Sherlock Holmes impression.

Things took a turn for the weirder when Phil discovered my darkest secret: I am a 2-year-old with chopsticks. He stuck one up his nose to try and make me feel better, unfortunately this helped very little. But the conversation was excellent, so after dinner we stayed at the bar.

Phil and I made plans to drink juice and do hot yoga next week.
