Fur flies over Jacobs garb

The Humane Society of the United States is accusing one of the New York’s most well-known retailers of selling garments by Marc Jacobs that are made out of raccoon dog fur.

The group says the items at Century 21 were marked as “faux fur.” The group claimed a $279.97 mens winter jacket under the name “Marc By Marc Jacobs” had a fringe made from fur of the raccoon dog, which is a canine cousin of domestic dogs.

Jacobs could not immediately return a request for comment last night. On its Facebook page, Century 21 said it did not make the garments and relies on designers to certify clothes’ materials.
