Part one of the “Bonnie & Clyde” miniseries averaged 9.8 million total viewers during its simulcast on History, A&E and Lifetime Sunday night.
That fell short of the 13.9 million viewers that tuned into the first part of History’s record-breaking “Hatfields & McCoys” miniseries in 2012 or the 13.1 million viewers for “The Bible” in 2013.
(Both of those miniseries aired only on History.)
But excluding those titles, “Bonnie & Clyde” — starring Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger as the notorious outlaws — was the most-watched cable miniseries debut since 2006’s “Broken Trail.”
Broken down by network, 3.7 million viewers watched the miniseries on History, 3.1 million viewers watched on Lifetime and 3 million watched on A&E.
Overall, “Bonnie & Clyde” drew 4.2 million viewers in the coveted adults 25-54 demographic at 9 p.m., according to Nielsen.
It was also the most tweeted about program of the day excluding sports, generating 90,000 tweets.
