Robbins’ first-round rewind

1. Chiefs

Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan – As college football ponders a split to 65 elite BCS schools, a mighty 6-foot-7 Chippewa gives Alex Smith protection.

2. Jaguars

Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M – Let the debate begin: Who got the best in the great Tackle Class of 2013? Joeckel played against better competition than Fisher.

3. Dolphins-a

Dion Jordan, OLB/DE, Oregon – The Fish get serious on defense, moving up to take the most dynamic defensive talent in the draft.

4. Eagles

Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma – Offensive Linemen U: Sooners have produced Davin Joseph, Trent Williams and Phil Loadholt.

5. Lions

Ziggy Ansah, DE, BYU – Ziggy doesn’t play guitar but he is music on the field. Lions might have to wait as the Ghana native learns the notes but he could go platinum.

6. Browns

Barkevious Mingo, DE, LSU – Bingo! He should start Week 1 and be the Defensive Rookie of the Year at the midway point. In two years is Jordan better?

7. Cardinals

Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina – The Butch Davis effect: the best recruiter college football has known sends another stud to the NFL.

8. Rams-b

Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia – The Rams just upgraded the crucial slot receiver position from the workmanlike Danny Amendola to Tavon the Taser.

9. Jets

Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama – No pressure. Just replace Revis Island and all will be well. Welcome to New York, kid.

10. Titans

Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama – Memo to Chris Johnson: See Warmack, follow Warmack, thank Warmack after becoming 2.5K.

11. Chargers

D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama – A former QB, Chargers new coach Mike McCoy is going to protect Philip Rivers, even if Rivers can’t protect Rivers from himself.

12. Raiders-c

D.J. Hayden, CB, Houston – Did Al Davis make this pick from the grave? Raiders traded down and still took Hayden too high. Commitment to ineptitude.

13. Jets-d

Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri – Not the pass rusher Gang Green fans wanted, but the versatile defensive lineman is in vogue. Rex Ryan will go mad scientist with him.

14. Panthers

Star Lotulelei, NT, Utah – Panthers just got the next Haloti Ngata. Lotulelei will occupy two blockers on every play or a QB or RB will pay.

15. Saints

Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas – No word on any bounty incentives, but he is a big hitter and the Saints need big hitters — any hitter — in the worst way.

16. Bills-e

E.J. Manuel, QB, FSU – A head scratcher but remember, new Bills coach Doug Marrone helped Drew Brees realize his potential. He knows QBs, we hope.

17. Steelers

Jarvis Jones, LB, Georgia – Never ceases to amaze how the Steelers find physical, productive defenders.

18. 49ers-f

Eric Reid, FS, LSU – Hate to use “steal” but Reid was a better DB than Tyrann Mathieu was before, during and after synthetic pot use. YouTube his 2011 interception vs. Alabama.

19. Giants

Justin Pugh, OT, Syracuse – Meet the next David Diehl, a tough, sound, smart tackle that has a mean streak. Was really well-coached in college.

20. Bears

Tyler Long, OT, Oregon – The sixth tackle taken will endear himself to Bears fans with physical play. And he’ll frustrate them while he learns this precious position.

21. Bengals

Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame – Fantasy football owners take note — Andy Dalton to Eifert will be money. He was the one offensive player that scared ’Bama.

22. Falcons-g

Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington – Ready to play: Reared by his brothers who were NFL corners and has been starting since he arrived in Seattle.

23. Vikings

Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida – A top 10 pick a week ago, he dropped to a team that has been brutally hard to run against. He will take the slide personally.

24. Colts

Bjoern Werner, DE, FSU – Saw the ’Noles a lot and never came away blown away by Werner. Colts are losing Dwight Freeney but this isn’t the answer.

25. Vikings-h

Xavier Rhodes, CB, FSU – Kudos to the Vikings. They got two physically-gifted defenders at the bottom of the round to compete against Green Bay and Detroit.

26. Packers

Datone Jones, DE, UCLA – The Packers’ never-ending quest to bolster a defense that can complement their explosive offense continues.

27. Texans

DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson – Coach Dabo Swinney ripped Hopkins for coming out early. But with Andre Johnson’s career closer to the end, Hopkins’ timing works.

28. Broncos

Sylvester Williams, DT, North Carolina – Broncos are the winners in the late-round sweepstakes. Another Butch Davis recruit that John Fox will move around.

29. Vikings-i

Cordarelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee – QB Christian Ponder can throw him the ball and pass him the good book. Win-win? Vikes replace Percy Harvin.

30. Rams-j

Alex Ogletree, LB, Georgia – Check out his return of a blocked FGA in the SEC title game and you’ll wonder why he went this low. High knucklehead quotient, however.

31. Cowboys-k

Travis Frederick, C, Wisconsin – Unusual for a center to go in the first round, but if you saw the Cowboys’ snapping woes, you get it. Plus, he can play guard.

32. Ravens

Matt Elam, S, Florida – Ed Reed has logged 12 sensation seasons. Elam is the heir apparent for the Super Bowl champs.
