City shuts down Mustang Sally’s over rodent, roach infestations

A mouse-and-roach infestation led the city this week to shut down a popular Irish bar that does booming business during Madison Square Garden events.

But Mustang Sally’s, on Seventh Avenue between West 28th and West 29th Streets, was reopened today, an employee said.

The restaurant declined further comment.

The bar was still listed as closed this afternoon on the city Health Department’s Web site.

City health inspectors closed Mustang Sally’s after an inspection Tuesday discovered “evidence of mice or live mice present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas.”

The inspectors also reported “live roaches present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas,” and food that was not protected from potential contamination.

Mustang Sally’s location near the Garden has made it one of the city’s best-known sports bars. It also claims to be a hangout for Cincinnati Reds and Baltimore Ravens fans.
