‘24’ ready to ‘Live Another Day’ on Fox

Jack Bauer lives.

Fox has now confirmed that “24” will return for a limited run next year. The Post reported the rumored news last Saturday.

Original star Kiefer Sutherland will reprise his role as Jack Bauer, the terrorist-fighting tough guy not averse to using whatever means necessary to save the world from the brink of extinction.

So far, he’s been successful.

The new series will be called “24: Live Another Day” and will encompass 12 episodes, which will kick off in May 2014.

Like its predecessor — which ended its nine-season run on Fox in 2010 — each episode will take place in real time.

But since “Live Another Day” will only encompass 12 episodes — rather than the standard 22-episode season — the on-screen, second-by-second clock for which “24” is famous will occasionally skip a few hours, Fox officials said yesterday.

Howard Gordon, who worked on the original series, will return as executive producer on “Live Another Day.”

Talks to revive “24” on TV reportedly heated up after a planned movie, based on the series and starring Sutherland, ran into a series of roadblocks since the show ended.

Sutherland became available after his last series, “Touch” — which also aired on Fox — was cancelled.
