GOP foes give gaffe guff

The GOP primary for mayor is getting testy — with rivals Joe Lhota and John Catsimatidis each trying to make the other eat his words.

Lhota took a shot at Catsimatidis for once saying that there are “two New Yorks” and that he “felt sorry” for people who didn’t live in Manhattan.

“Joe understands the unique qualities and needs of each neighborhood in all five boroughs. He will be a mayor for all New Yorkers,” the Lhota campaign tweeted in response to Catsimatidis’ comments, made in a 1989 Crain’s business profile.

Catsimatidis, meanwhile, slammed Lhota for mocking Port Authority police as “mall cops” during a mayoral forum last week. Lhota apologized following a firestorm of flak from police unions.

But Catsimatidis didn’t let Lhota off the hook.

“I believe in supporting our uniformed services, not knocking them down,” the supermarket mogul said in ad published in The Post.
