Ray Allen: KG, Pierce giving me silent treatment

Ray Allen still does not understand why former teammates Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce are upset with him, and it seems they’re not inclined provide an explanation.

“They haven’t spoken to me,” Allen said Sunday before the Heat were shocked at home by the Celtics, according to the Boston Herald.

“For them to be so upset with me is disappointing because of how everything happened. That banner in 2008 is still going to be there, and we’re still going to be tied to it.”

The silent treatment stems from Allen departing the Celtics in free agency to sign with the Heat, who repeated as champions last season. Garnett and Pierce were traded to the Nets this past offseason as the Celtics launched a full-on rebuild — yet Allen continues to insist their exits were analogous.

“In my opinion it was the same scenario,” Allen said. “I wasn’t upset with any of those guys, because it was their right. You have to make the choices you feel are best for your situation. That’s why I was so disappointed in the reaction to me, because those guys know what it takes.”

Garnett in particular has not made the smoothest transition to Brooklyn, averaging 6.0 points and 6.7 rebounds in 23.2 minutes through six games.
