‘Sharknado’ repeat bigger

Syfy’s “Sharknado” phenomenon continues to circle the TV universe.

Thursday night’s repeat of the cheesy horror flick, in which sharks are unleashed on Southern California during a tornado, snared 1.9 million viewers. That’s half-a-million more viewers than the original “Sharknado,” which aired July 11 to 1.4 million viewers.

The July 11 airing also set the Twitterverse on fire, spurring tweets from celebs including Mia Farrow.

Syfy said yesterday that “Sharknado” will repeat July 27 (9 p.m.) and Aug. 22 (7 p.m.). Earlier this week, the network announced plans for “Sharknado 2,” which will be set in New York City and will air next July. No word yet if original stars Ian Zieiring and Tara Reid will return.
