Jada Pinkett Smith cast in Fox’s ‘Gotham’

The Penguin now has a boss.

Jada Pinkett Smith has been added to the acting roster of Fox’s upcoming series, “Gotham,” its Batman prequel show.

Smith will play Fish Mooney, a sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner who’s the boss of Oswald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin — and has “the street smarts and almost extra-sensory abilities to read people like an open book,” according to the character description.

Smith, who’s married to Will Smith, was last seen on TV in the TNT medical drama “Hawthorne” from 2009-11. She and Smith also executive-produce Queen Latifah’s daytime talk show, “The Queen Latifah Show.”

Her film credits include “Collateral” and “The Matrix.”

“Gotham,” which is set to air on Fox next season, explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and the villains that made DC Comics’ Gotham famous.

In addition to McKenzie, roles already cast are Donal Logue as Det. Harvey Bullock, Zabryna Guevara as Capt. Essen, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth and Robin Lord Taylor as Cobblepot /The Penguin.
