Avoid the football with puppy, kitten and fish Bowls

It’ll be reigning cats and dogs on Super Bowl Sunday with two epic battles of the species — Puppy Bowl X and Kitten Bowl I.

Animal Planet’s established veteran, the Puppy Bowl, begins at 3 p.m. and repeats until 5 a.m. The contest features 60 rescue pups and 21 cameras filming their every move.

Michelle Obama and her Portuguese water dogs, Sunny and Bo, add a touch of pooch royalty to the game, whose MVP — most valuable puppy — will be voted on by fans.

The Hallmark Channel’s frisky newcomer, Kitten Bowl, starts at noon and repeats until midnight.

The contest, hosted by Beth Ostrosky Stern, Howard Stern’s better half, features cat-thletes such as Ferrell Owens, Troy Paw-lamalau and Meoshawn Lynch. All 71 kitty players are from North Shore Animal League America and Last Hope Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation. All have since been adopted, network officials said.

And if furry mammals don’t float your boat, there’s always the Fish Bowl, debuting on Nat Geo Wild at 6 p.m.
