Captain and Tennille split, but fans get custody of the songs

After 39 years of marriage, nothing, apparently, will keep the Captain and Tennille together.

Daryl Dragon and Toni Tennille, who earned a Record of the Year Grammy in 1975 for their hit “Love Will Keep Us Together,” are getting divorced.

Here’s a look at some of the pop duo’s hits, which, in light of the split, may take on new meaning.

“Love Will Keep Us Together” (1975)

In this performance on “The Midnight Special,” Tennille sings like she means it, as the Captain plays some soulful chords on the organ.

But check out the drummer looking intently at Toni as she belts out “love will keep us together.”

“The Way I Want To Touch You” (1975)

Tennille is both breathless and strapless in this schmaltzy song. And the Captain is hatless!

“Muskrat Love” (1976)

When it comes to romance, who doesn’t think of muskrats?

“Do That To Me One More Time” (1979)

The Captain is gazing at his wife with the look of love. But she looks more attached to her microphone than to him, as disco-era couples slowdance in the crowd.
