Ewe gotta be kidding!
A closed gas station on 10th Avenue between 24th and 25th streets has been transformed into a piece of public art complete with a grassy knoll and a herd of not-so-fluffy faux sheep.
The sheep were crafted by late French sculptor Francois-Xavier Lalanne, who enjoyed crafting animal-like pieces of art. The “Sheep Station” installation is set to graze at the former Getty filling station until Oct. 20.
“Set in a surrealist landscape amidst the existing industrial gas station architecture, the sheep symbolize Lalanne’s mission to demystify art,” organizers say.
