Italian authorities are looking for a 2-foot-tall pony that was stolen from his tiny stall Thursday at a horse show in central Italy.
The pony-nappers may be holding the little guy – who goes by the name of Charly – for ransom, according to police.
“The problem is that this pony is so easy to transport because he is so small – like a dog,” a spokesperson from the show told The Local.
Charly’s owner Bartolo Messina believed the thieves cut a hole in the fence surrounding the small steed’s enclosure at night and whisked him away through a nearby tobacco field.
“I never imagined having to write this but unfortunately it has happened and I feel empty, violated and destroyed!” wrote Messina in a post on Facebook.
The Local reports that Angelo Capecci, president of the Italian horse show, described the theft as a “very serious criminal act that offends and humiliates all in the horse world.”
