WASHINGTON — Nyet fair! House Speaker John Boehner is blasting President Obama for dealing with Russian strongman Vladimir Putin while stiffing Republican demands to negotiate over spending.
A lighthearted video released by Boehner (R-Ohio) strings together clips of White House officials nixing debt-limit talks — followed by clips of them offering to engage Putin.
“Why is the Obama administration willing to negotiate with Putin on Syria … but not with Congress to address Washington’s spending problem?” the narrator asks in the spoof video posted online.
The video, which includes a famous bare-chested shot of Putin, “demonstrated a little bit of odd Putin-envy,” quipped White House press secretary Jay Carney.
The government will shut down Oct. 1 without a funding agreement.
