Giants Blitz

HERO

Eagles backup quarterback Nick Foles made quite the case for the starting job Sunday, taking over for the injured Michael Vick just before halftime and rallying Philadelphia to the victory — and the end of a three-game skid — with a pair of second-half touchdown passes and a 114.9 rating. Chip Kelly said afterward Vick is still No. 1 on the depth chart, but Foles is definitely on the rise.

UNSUNG HERO

The Eagles’ Alex Henery hadn’t been the most reliable guy this season, connecting on just seven of his first 10 field-goal tries, but he turned into Robo Kicker on Sunday. Henery was 5-for-5 (connecting from 40, 27, 29, 36 and 41 yards), and his 15 points provided the final margin.

ZERO

Take your pick from the winless Giants’ entire roster, but Eli Manning gets the nod after throwing ugly interceptions on three consecutive possessions in the fourth quarter that sealed Big Blue’s first 0-5 start since 1987. The two-time Super Bowl MVP is on pace to throw 38 interceptions this season.

KEY STAT

182 Points allowed by the Giants, the most through the first five games of a season since the 1961 Oakland Raiders of the AFL gave up 187.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“We’ve got to get our heads out of our [butts].”
