Homeless man busted in shocking stroller attack

A homeless man who attacked a woman pushing her baby in a stroller in upper Manhattan last month was busted Sunday in New Jersey, police sources said.

Oscar Ruiz, 35, was hauled into the Englewood Police Department after cops received a tip, sources said.

The NYPD went to the stationhouse to question Ruiz, whose charges were pending late Sunday, sources said.

On Sept. 27, Ruiz came up behind MaryJane Jarman, 33, as she was running while pushing her 8-month-old boy in a jogging stroller on West 190th Street near Riverside Drive in Inwood, cops said.

He allegedly put Jarman in a bear hug, threw her to the ground and threatened her with a bottle during a robbery attempt, sources said.

But the tough-as-nails mom pulled out a bike pump and bashed Ruiz in the head, prompting him to flee empty-handed, cops said.

Police identified Ruiz from a fingerprint he left at the scene, sources said.

Cops reviewed surveillance video confirming Jarman’s version of the events, sources said.

Ruiz lives in a homeless shelter.
