Berserk Texans fan curses Schaub out at home: report

Texans fans are starting to act on their frustration with Matt Schaub.

One hooligan went to the quarterback’s house, berated him for his poor play and took photos of his family, according to a report from a Houston radio station. The fan left on their own without further incident and the Texans contacted NFL security.

NFL vice president of security Jeff Miller confirmed Wednesday to NFL.com that the league is aware of the incident.

“This is a little unusual in that we don’t normally have fans acting in this way, going to a player’s residence, that sort of thing,” Miller said. “In this case, Monday afternoon, a vehicle pulled into his driveway, an unidentified individual yelled obscenities. The police department is involved. We’ve been in contact with them as we normally would for anything like this. And because it is a team issue, they have a security director, we work with them.

“In this case, they’ll be working closely with the police department. But it’s going to be investigated and handled seriously by the Houston Police Department.”

Miller said the league will coordinate with team security to provide extra support because of the national coverage the story has received. He added that security can be provided for Schaub’s family when he is on the road and they “don’t need to be subjected to things like this.”

Schaub has taken the brunt of the blame for the Texans’ disappointing 2-3 start. He has thrown an interception returned for a touchdown in four straight games. One local restaurant created a pick-six burger in his honor.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak said earlier this week he is “evaluating” the quarterback situation, but will likely stick with Schaub over backup T.J. Yates. Some fans clearly don’t agree with the coach’s call.
