The not-so-mini Mini Cooper stretch limo

A British limousine operator wasn’t content with the length of a standard Mini Cooper and had one turned into a 27-foot-long stretch limousine.

Kamran Akran, owner of Krystal Limousines in Coventry, England, got the idea for the modified Mini, when he read about a custom car garage in Las Vegas, and after thinking about was appropriately British vehicle, had a four-year-old Mini Cooper S shipped over to the US.

“The Mini is a British classic — it is recognized around the world. Now we have the longest one on the planet,” Akran told the Daily Mail.

Once there, a specialist split the compact car in half and added 16 feet to the middle along with an extra set of wheels.

But length isn’t where the altered Mini’s similarities to other limos ends. The interior was given a nightclub-like overhaul, adding leather seats and a champagne fridge.

Akran paid approximately $104,000 for the makeover, but so far the cost has been worth.

“It’s certainly an eye-catching car and a lot of people are now choosing it for special occasions over the more common limos.” Akran told the paper.
