Unlicensed cabbie drags cop 75 feet at JFK

An undercover Port Authority cop was struck by a hack allegedly hustling fares illegally at JFK Airport and dragged 75 feet.

The cop walked up to Surjit Dhillon, 31, at Terminal 7 at around 8 p.m. Monday and asked to see his license, sources said.

The cabby allegedly floored it, rode over the cop with his 2007 black Lincoln Town Car, jumped the curb and dragged the officer along the sidewalk, the sources said.

The wild-eyed driver allegedly sped north on the Van Wyck Expressway until he was stopped at Rockaway Parkway, where he refused to get out of the car and fought cops’ attempts to cuff him, the sources said.

“I was scared and I didn’t want to go to jail,” he later allegedly told officers. “That’s why I didn’t stop after I hit the cop.”

Dhillon was charged with felony assault, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and resisting arrest, said PA Police Department spokesman Joe Pentangelo. Dhillon paid $50,000 in bail.

The 20-year veteran police officer, whose name was not released because of his investigative work, was taken to North Shore Hospital, where he got casts on his ankle and wrist and was treated for severe road rash. He will need follow-up care with specialists.
