Fumes on plane force emergency landing at Newark

A flight from the US to Germany was diverted to Newark Liberty Airport because of fumes in the cockpit, and several passengers requested medical treatment once it landed, sources said.

United Flight 932 took off from Dulles Airport with roughly 220 passengers aboard about 10:20 p.m. and was headed to Frankfurt, but was forced to make the emergency landing because of the unidentified odor, sources said.

Passengers were let off the plane, but some requested treatment because they were exposed to the fumes and several ambulances responded to Terminal C at the airport.

Authorities checked the plane but found nothing suspicious, sources said.
