WHAT A WEEK!

I know, I know: It’s not even spring yet and we’re already talking about fall clothes. Well, that’s how the world of fashion works. The Olympus Fashion Week that ended Friday was dedicated to showing off the clothes that designers hope you’ll be wearing six months from now.

In the spirit of planning ahead, here’s a suggested list of five fall 2004 must-haves to mull over this summer.

Trend Fur

Doesn’t matter what. The standard is some type of fur coat (broadtail is nice and versatile), but don’t let convention dictate what you buy. There are also fur skirts, tops, vests, hats, purses, stoles, muffs and more. (Michael Kors even showed jeans with mink fringe at the bottom!)

Trend Satin – Slinky style

A fun ’40s-looking, calf-length dress will be a mainstay in the closets of party girls, but the shiny stuff shows up on everything this fall. Wear a satin top with jeans, a skirt with a nice cashmere sweater and pearls (it’s a very proper season, girls), and slick pants with a fitted leather jacket.
