Super Bowl Sunday viewer’s guide

Whether you’re a fan of the Seahawks or Broncos, or are just tuning in for the commercials, Super Bowl Sunday is one of the biggest days for television ratings. But what to watch leading up to kickoff at MetLife Stadium for Super Bowl XLVIII? The Post has you covered with a viewer’s guide:

6 a.m.

Awake yet? Good. Twelve hours left until game time. Sit back, relax and enjoy an hour of the best Super Bowl ads from years past on NFL Network.

10 a.m.

ESPN begins its pregame coverage, which will be on for the next four hours. So if you’ve already shopped and gotten all your Super Bowl party foods, snacks and drinks, “Sunday NFL Countdown” will get you ready for the game.

Noon

Why let the dogs get all the attention? This year is the first “Kitten Bowl.” As if you needed another reason to watch, Yankees radio announcer John Sterling will call the action on Hallmark Channel.

12:30 p.m.

Tired of all the pregame football hype? Turn on NBC for some matinee NHL action featuring one of the league’s best players in Alex Ovechkin as the Capitals and Red Wings battle, with both teams in need of a big win.

1 p.m.

March Madness may be more than a month away, but for those needing their fix, a Big Ten battle between Michigan and Indiana on CBS should suffice.

2 p.m.

With more than four hours to go before kickoff, the Super Bowl pregame coverage starts on FOX, the network carrying the game, with Terry Bradshaw, Michael Strahan and Co. Some features will include a look back at bad-weather games, a tribute to the late Pat Summerall and a segment on Vince Lombardi’s New York-New Jersey roots.

3 p.m.

Puppy Bowl X kicks off with much — OK, nothing — at stake on Animal Planet. But if you really want to make it interesting, you can draft a Puppy Bowl squad on animalplanet.com. (Seriously, you can).

6:27 p.m.

The national anthem has been sung, the Broncos and Seahawks are on the field ready to go and the coin has been tossed. Time to get the big game started at MetLife Stadium.

Approx. 8:50 p.m.

Recent Grammy Award winner Bruno Mars takes the stage along with the Red Hot Chili Peppers for the Super Bowl halftime show. Now’s the time to stretch since you’ve probably been sitting on the couch all day and won’t be moving once the third quarter starts. But if you don’t want to leave the couch, “Seinfeld” is airing on WPIX.

Approximately 10:15 p.m.

Either the Broncos or Seahawks has emerged victorious and the players are carrying the Vince Lombardi Trophy around the field before heading to Disney World. Time to check your box pool to see if you ended up winning big bucks. Keep it on FOX for the postgame, or check out ESPN and NFL Network for more coverage.

11 p.m.

Check out the news to see what you missed today, then head for bed. After all, Monday is a work day. Less than a year until Super Bowl XLIX!
