NEW BRUNSWICK RAPIST REIGN OF TERROR

Just three months ago, students at Rutgers and other locals breathed a huge sigh of relief after the arrest of a man suspected of being New Brunswick’s serial rapist.

Ricardo Cepates, a 32-year-old New Brunswick man, had terrorized the city for more than two years, committing seven rapes.

DNA evidence has linked the illegal immigrant to the rapes of five women, including two Rutgers co-eds, and a 14-year-old girl, police said.

Cepates’ reign of terror began Sept. 20, 2001, when he raped a 21-year-old Rutgers student after beating and dragging her into a wooded area, cops said.

He was arrested Dec. 6 after he tried to rape an employee in the bathroom of a Mexican record and gift store.

But fear has now returned to the area with new sex assaults.
