Tot wandering alone in Bushwick wins heart of cop

A Brooklyn tot was found wandering alone on a Bushwick street near midnight last week and wound up winning the heart of the rookie female cop who took charge of him.

NYPD Officer Marisol Torres told colleagues she was ready to adopt the 3-year-old boy after she spent several hours with him at Woodhull Medical Center, where cops took the toddler after a good Samaritan found him at Marcus Garvey Boulevard and Greene Avenue at around 11 p.m. on Friday.

“I wanted to cry because I’m a mom, and I can’t seem to understand how he went onto the streets alone,’’ Torres said, according to a source.

The child was later reunited with his parents, who had left him in the care of his uncle while they went out.

Cops said the uncle, Danul Cabbagestalk, 28, fell asleep during the child’s visit.

An unidentified pedestrian saw the boy about a block and a half away. She brought him to 81st Precinct cops, who took him to the hospital and deposited him in the arms of Torres while he underwent a checkup.

“I gave him apple juice and let him play with all the games on my cellphone,” Torres said, according to the source. “All he said was, ‘I am fine.’ ”

Cabbagestalk was charged with failure to exercise control of a minor.
