NYers kept waiting on gifts as UPS deliveries delayed

It wouldn’t be Christmas season without delayed packages — and UPS customers around New York are already suffering with major fumbles from the delivery giant.

Customers around the city and New Jersey say some of the packages they expected as early as Tuesday this week are still en route — some boxes still sitting at facilities not far from their intended locations.

One UPS facility at Parsippany, NJ, has been telling customers the company is on a two-day delay at this point, a source said.

“I am so very disappointed in your service,” complained one customer, Marcia Dlutek of Rochester, on Facebook. “You failed to deliver as promised on a guaranteed delivery I needed for a training last week. Now packages from ‘Santa’ are MIA.”

“I don’t want a prize . . . just my child’s Christmas present that won’t be delivered on time!” Courtlyn Easley Evans wrote in response to a promotional post.

UPS spokeswoman Susan Rosenberg denied the delays were commonplace — though she admitted the company is still struggling with delayed packages routed through northern Texas and Oklahoma because of inclement weather.

“There are no specific delays outside of just heavier volume in New York City and Long Island and that area,” she said. “There may be individual and isolated packages delayed — depending on where it originated — but right now, it’s just the heavy volume of the weekend before Christmas.”
