A Malian man wanted in the 2000 slaying of a Defense Department official in Niger has been indicted in a US court.
The indictment charging Alhassane Ould Mohamed with murder was unsealed Wednesday in federal court in Brooklyn.
Mohamed is accused of shooting to death William Bultemeier as the victim left a restaurant in the Niger capital of Niamey. A Marine who came to Bultemeier’s aid also was wounded.
Prosecutors declined to discuss the timing of the indictment and Mohamed’s suspected whereabouts.
