A coach from Italian soccer team Genoa was caught spying on local rivals Sampdoria dressed in Rambo-style camouflage ahead of their crosstown clash on Sunday.
Luca De Pra was reportedly spotted hiding in the woods next to Sampdoria’s training ground by fans who alerted staff.
Sampdoria team manager Giorgio Ajazzone and communications director Alberto Marangon chased after Mr De Pra, who tried to flee the scene.
However, he was caught hiding behind a tree dressed in full military attire and, as a popular figure in the city, was instantly recognized.
The Genoa youth team coach and nephew of Giovanni De Pra, deemed the club’s finest ever goalkeeper, was suspended by the club, who said they had nothing to do with Friday’s undercover operation.
