Let us help you avoid Halloween on TV

You can’t take two steps without tripping over a zombie head this week in the run-up to Halloween. Here’s what’s scary good on TV if you want to avoid All Hallows Eve altogether:

“Masterchef Junior” (Friday, 8 p.m., Fox)
These pint-sized chefs are scary good — Mama’s convinced that the recent Beef Wellington challenge was designed by a cow ranchers lobby — but they’ve been confined to the Masterchef kitchen thus far. That changes this week during “restaurant takeovers,” the penultimate episode of this enjoyable competition. Now we’ll see if the typically prolifically profane Gordon Ramsay will continue to be able to hold his forked tongue when judging these pre-teen cooks in a real-life restaurant.

“Scandal” (Thursday, 10 p.m., ABC)
Although every episode of this series has shockers or twists around every corner, this week stands out as “Friend” Lisa Kudrow begins her guest stint as Josephine Marcus, a Democratic Congresswoman who tangles with the increasingly sloshed Mellie (Bellamy Young). Meanwhile, the Gladiators are scraping the bottom of the barrel for clients.

“The Good Wife” (Sunday, 9 p.m., CBS)
Mama never knew that partner defection from a law firm could be the must-see story of the week. The revitalized law series has seen the machinations of fourth-year lawyers defecting from Lockhart/ Gardner as the opaque Alicia (Julianna Margulies) vacillated between her loyalty to Will (Josh Charles), her onetime boss and lover, and her desire to be the one with the name on the door. This week, we see the fallout from Diane’s (Christine Baranski) revelation that Alicia has been lying to them about her pending defection all season. Get ready for some frighteningly good fights.

“Supernatural” (Tuesday, 9 p.m., The CW)
Technically, this series probably falls into the Halloween gray area, as it’s a regularly spooky kind of show. But sci-fi It girl Felicia Day is back as the best IT girl ever, who assists Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) when the boys meet Dorothy (guest star Tiio Horn) from Oz and the Wicked Witch (guest star Maya Massar), who’ve been trapped in a magical green wall all these years. Um, I thought these guys hunted resurrected demons? And I thought a bucket of water took care of that witch a long time ago.
