Manhattan

A man tried to rape a woman against a concrete wall outside the Holland Tunnel, Port Authority police said.

Kevin Cherry, 35, was driving toward Manhattan with a 30-year-old woman in the passenger seat when he began making sexual advances at about 10 a.m. Sunday, PAPD cops said.

The woman bolted from the car just before they entered the tunnel, cops said.

Cherry got out and chased her, forgetting even to put the vehicle in park, police added.

Another passenger in the back seat jumped into the front and stopped the car, cops said.

The brute caught the woman and allegedly attempted to rape her against a concrete barrier, police sources said.

A civilian Port Authority employee happened to be driving by and called cops to the scene, but when Cherry spotted the worker trying to call for help, he ran over and began jumping on the Good Samaritan’s hood and smashed his windshield, cops said.

PAPD cops nabbed Cherry at a nearby gas station and charged him with attempted criminal sexual contact, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and driving with a suspended license, said PAPD spokesman Joe Pentangelo.

Cops arrested a man who tried to steal from three Greenwich Village hot spots on the same morning but made off with just one bottle of liquor, authorities said.

Adrian Longo, 36, also broke into several other businesses in lower Manhattan and was caught in the act the last time, police said. Longo broke in through the front door of Bar Nana on Gansevoort Street at 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 27 and went to the cash register, but found it empty, according to police.

He grabbed a bottle of Appleton Rum and took off, cops said.

Fifteen minutes later, he went into steakhouse Macelleria down the block, but fled empty-handed when he heard workers in the back, according to police.

At 4:30 a.m., he broke into Corsino Cantina on Hudson Street but, once again, ran off empty-handed, cops added.

Last Friday, a cop caught him in the act as he broke into a Thompson Street business, officials said.

Investigators linked Longo to three more January break-ins — at Obao Noodles and BBQ on Water Street, Vans clothing store on Grand Street and Palmer Trading Company on Sullivan Street.

The thief made off with $2,700 from the Sullivan and Water street jobs, cops said.

Longo, whose rap sheet includes arrests for other burglary sprees, was charged with seven counts of burglary, police sources said.

A 20-year-old man was shot and killed in High Bridge on Monday, police said.

An unknown gunman opened fire on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard around 2:35 a.m., striking Marquis Brewer, of Summit Avenue, several times in the torso, cops said.

The victim was rushed to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

No arrests have been made and the motive of the shooting was not immediately clear.

The father and daughter suffered minor injuries and went to Jamaica Hospital for treatment, police said.

Vazquez was arrested at the hospital and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

An off-duty cop was arrested after crashing his car in Woodside, police said.

Albert Robles, 37, smashed the vehicle on 49th Avenue and 69th Street at about 7 a.m. Sunday, cops said.

He was not injured, but allegedly caused property damage, police sources said.

The cop, who is assigned to Queens North, was charged with DWI.

A hit-and-run driver was arrested after smashing into a bus stop and injuring five people in Woodside, authorities said.

Luis Andrade, 32, lost control of his white Mazda near the corner of Northern Boulevard and 48th Street before crashing into the bus shelter’s glass at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, cops said.

A 7-year-old girl was among those injured before Andrade sped off and abandoned his banged-up car in the vicinity of 62nd Street and 38th Avenue, according to police.

All of the victims were taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition. Investigators found the car with a shattered windshield and severe front-end damage.

Cops busted the driver late Sunday and charged him with several counts of leaving the scene of an accident.
