Giants blitz: ‘We didn’t make any plays’

HERO: Richard Sherman likes to call himself the best cornerback in the game, and the Seahawks star certainly looked it Sunday. Not only did Sherman pick off two Eli Manning passes, but he also smothered Hakeem Nicks. With Sherman shadowing his every move, Nicks was targeted five times but held to just one catch for six yards.

UNSUNG HERO: The Giants’ defense no doubt will be feeling the bruises left by Marshawn Lynch a few days from now. The Seahawks’ bruiser had a big day with 120 total yards, including a 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter in which Lynch unleashed his trademark “beast mode” while knocking Giants aside like bowling pins.

ZERO: Not all of them were his fault and one was on a Hail Mary right before halftime, but Eli Manning was the Giants’ franchise quarterback in name only Sunday while throwing a career-high five interceptions. He now leads the NFL with 25 interceptions for the year. Manning said he wasn’t “going to point any fingers,” but it might be time he pointed them at himself.

KEY STAT: 3: shutout losses by the Giants in the past 17 games. Prior to that, Tom Coughlin’s teams had not been shut out in the regular season even once in his first eight seasons.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “It was a pathetic offensive performance. We didn’t block anybody. We didn’t make any plays.”—Tom Coughlin
