Man killed trying to cross busy Bronx street

A elderly man was killed Monday when he was struck by three cars while trying to cross a busy Bronx street, officials and witnesses said.

Angel Figueroa, 74, was crossing East Tremont Avenue near St. Raymond’s Cemetery around 8 a.m. when an SUV slammed into him, the FDNY said.

His body was catapulted over the vehicle’s roof before being hit by a Nissan sedan driven by a woman who later fled the scene, witnesses said.

A taxi then ran the man over a third time.

“It was really scary,” said taxi passenger, Leena, 22. “He flipped over, hit the car in front of us, then we ran over him.”

Figueroa was pronounced dead at the scene.

The taxi driver, José Perez, said he tried to plead with the driver of the Nissan to stay at the scene of the accident.

“I told the lady, ‘Don’t leave. I have your plate number,’ ” said Perez, 40. “She called me an a–hole and took off.”

The driver of the Nissan is still being sought, cops said.
