‘Finest’ cop Pat Rogers dead in Boston

Pat Rogers, a cop who appeared on Season 1 of TNT’s reality show “Boston’s Finest” died on Tuesday.

Rogers, an eight-year Boston PD veteran, died hours before a premiere for the show’s second season — produced by actor Donnie Wahlberg — was to be held at Boston’s Revere Hotel. The event was cancelled after spread of Rogers’ demise.

No cause of death was given and Rogers’ age was not released.

“The Boston PD is investigating the unfortunate death of a member of the department,” the Boston police department said in a statement. “The circumstances are under investigation, and the department asks that the media respect the privacy of the family at this time.”

Wahlberg tweeted out his sorrow over Rogers’ death.

“I am so deeply saddened tonight,” he wrote Tuesday. “My thoughts and prayers go out to a fallen brother of The Boston Police Dept.”

On Wednesday, Wahlberg tweeted again, referring to Rogers’ death. “Forgive my lack of tweets today,” he wrote. “Working very hard, with a very heavy heart.”

TNT also issued a statement.

“We stand with the men and women of the Boston Police Department and send heartfelt condolences to family, friends and fellow officers,” it said.

“Boston’s Finest” is slated to return for its second season Nov. 26.

TNT is expected to honor Rogers at the end of the episode, according to today.com.
